Jessica Douglas, D.O.

Dr. Douglas is a board certified psychiatrist who specializes in treating children, adolescents, and adults with a variety of mental health conditions. She was born and raised in Lexington, Ky., and received her undergraduate degree in Biology from the University of Kentucky in 2000. Dr. Douglas then moved to Memphis, TN where she was a research assistant at UT Memphis for an NIH sponsored study involving psychiatry and public policy. Following this she moved to Chicago and completed medical school at the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2005. While in medical school, she was President of the school's Behavioral Medicine Organization. She also participated in research with the renowned psychiatrist Jerrold Post in Washington, D.C.

Dr. Douglas then moved to Nashville where she completed six years of residency and fellowship training in general as well as child and adolescent psychiatry at Vanderbilt Medical Center. She served as a chief fellow in her final year of training. During her fellowship, she was involved in the publication of research on the treatment of symptoms in the context of autism spectrum disorder.  Dr. Douglas worked at the Nashville VA Hospital for two years and most recently at Centerstone community mental health center for the past ten years.

Dr. Douglas is committed to implementing evidence based treatments. She believes in knowing and understanding each patient's unique story and journey, and the context in which they experience mental health symptoms. In relation to treating children and adolescents, she emphasizes the importance of not only treating the child but also supporting the surrounding family structure. She believes in communication and collaboration with therapists and other providers involved in a patient's care to achieve optimal outcomes.

Dr. Douglas lives in Nashville with her husband and four children. She is actively involved in her children's schools and cherishes time with her family and friends near and far. She enjoys exercise, cheering her kids on at their games and recitals, grabbing a cup of coffee with friends, and experimenting in the kitchen.
