Jenn Stewart, Clinical Psychologist, PhD

Dr. Jenn Stewart is a licensed clinical psychologist who specializes in working with children and adolescents with a broad range of difficulties. Dr. Stewart has experience in delivering individual, family, and group therapy to individuals with a variety of mental and physical health concerns including but not limited to Anxiety, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, Major Depressive Disorder, ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, PTSD, Encopresis/Enuresis, Insomnia, and chronic pain (e.g., Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD), Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis, Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome). Dr. Stewart also works with caregivers on parenting practices in order to support children and teens with difficult behavior. Jenn strives to create an inclusive and affirming therapy space for clients to feel validated and understood in their experiences. She likes to incorporate humor and (when suitable) play into therapy, and she works hard to tailor treatment to each individual’s developmental and social/emotional needs.

Dr. Stewart received a Bachelor’s degree in Child Development and Cognitive Studies from Vanderbilt University, and she then continued on at Vanderbilt to earn a Masters of Education in Child Studies and a Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology. She then completed her predoctoral internship at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Throughout her training, Jenn has worked in a variety of settings including outpatient mental health centers, children’s hospitals, pediatric primary care and specialty clinics, and public schools.

Therapy
Dr. Stewart likes to use a bio-psycho-social framework in working with clients, which involves considering how various factors in an individual’s life (stress, relationships, physical and mental health) may be impacting their overall well-being).  She is committed to using evidence-based treatments, most of which are rooted in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and she employs a transdiagnostic approach to treatment. Specific modalities used by Dr. Stewart include Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). Additionally, since Dr. Stewart works with children and adolescents, she often takes a family-systems approach to treatment, working with caregivers to help integrate therapy concepts into the child’s environment and bolster support for the child.

Assessment
Dr. Stewart also provides psychological evaluation services. She offers assessment of learning and cognition, as well as emotional and behavioral concerns related to Anxiety, Depression, OCD and ADHD.

In her free time, Jenn enjoys spending time with her partner, two kids, and pup, Luna. Jenn also enjoys getting outside and playing ultimate frisbee, disc golf, and hiking.
