Speech-Language Pathology Services
Helping Children Communicate, Connect, and Thrive
Communication plays an important role in nearly every aspect of a child's life, from developing friendships and participating in the classroom to expressing thoughts, understanding others, and navigating everyday interactions. At Green Hills Family Psych, we provide individualized speech-language pathology services to help children and adolescents strengthen their communication skills, build confidence, and reach their full potential.
Our approach recognizes that every child has a unique communication profile, with individual strengths and areas of need. Through comprehensive evaluations and personalized intervention, we work to understand each child's needs and develop meaningful goals that support success across home, school, and social environments.
Areas of Evaluation and Treatment
Our speech-language pathology services include evaluation and treatment in the following areas:
Speech Sound Production and Articulation
Assessment and treatment of speech sound difficulties that may affect a child's ability to produce sounds clearly and be understood by others. Intervention focuses on improving speech clarity, sound production, and overall intelligibility.
Language Development
Evaluation and treatment of receptive and expressive language skills. This may include understanding and following directions, vocabulary development, sentence formulation, grammar, verbal expression, listening comprehension, and the ability to organize and communicate thoughts effectively.
Social Communication (Pragmatic Language)
Social communication involves the skills we use to interact successfully with others and navigate social situations. Therapy may address conversational skills, initiating and maintaining interactions, interpreting social cues, understanding nonliteral language, perspective-taking, conversational reciprocity, and developing and maintaining friendships. Intervention is individualized to support meaningful social connection while respecting each child's communication style and neurodiversity.
Fluency and Stuttering
Evaluation and treatment of fluency differences, including stuttering. Services may address speech fluency, communication confidence, managing moments of stuttering, and reducing the impact that communication difficulties may have on everyday participation. Therapy emphasizes a supportive, individualized approach that promotes comfortable, confident communication without placing unnecessary pressure on speech.
Executive Functioning
Executive functioning skills help children plan, organize, manage time, initiate tasks, regulate attention, and monitor their progress toward goals. Therapy may target organization, planning, task initiation, working memory, time management, prioritization, problem-solving, and self-monitoring. We focus on developing practical strategies that children and adolescents can apply to academic demands and everyday responsibilities.
Our Approach
At Green Hills Family Psych, we believe that understanding the whole child is essential to providing effective care. Our speech-language pathology services are grounded in a strengths-based, individualized approach that considers each child's developmental profile, learning style, interests, and goals.
We recognize that communication skills do not develop in isolation. Social communication, language, executive functioning, and emotional well-being often intersect and influence one another. Our collaborative environment allows us to consider these connections when developing treatment recommendations and supporting each child's progress.
When appropriate, we also value collaboration with parents, caregivers, teachers, and other professionals to help reinforce skills and promote consistency across settings.
What to Expect
Comprehensive Evaluation
The evaluation process begins with understanding your child's developmental history, current concerns, strengths, and areas of difficulty. Assessment may include standardized testing, informal assessment, clinical observation, and parent input to develop a comprehensive picture of your child's communication skills.
Individualized Recommendations
Following the evaluation, findings and recommendations are shared with families. Treatment goals are developed based on your child's individual needs and priorities.
Personalized Therapy
Therapy sessions are tailored to your child's developmental level and goals. Intervention emphasizes functional skills and practical strategies that can be incorporated into everyday routines and interactions.
Ongoing Collaboration and Progress Monitoring
We value family involvement and collaboration with other providers when appropriate. Progress is monitored over time, and treatment goals are adjusted as your child develops new skills and faces new challenges.
Our Goal
Our goal is to help children and adolescents become more effective, confident communicators who feel understood, connected, and equipped to navigate the demands of everyday life. Whether a child is working on speech clarity, language development, social communication, fluency, or executive functioning, we strive to provide thoughtful, individualized support that helps each child thrive.
